The cook-club!

Date- 2nd of October 2016
Members attended- Aria and Isabella
This was definitely the best and most fun meeting we had. It was our cookery meeting were we made pancakes.
Here is a short video of what we did:

Many things were edited out but it shows what we did for half an hour in 2 minutes. In the end one pancake had burned and the other was a bit raw. They still tasted really pretty good, almost as good as how my mum makes them.
If you would like to make these pancakes here is the recipe below
Bowl 1
1 1/2 cups of flour
3 tbs of sugar
1/2 ts of baking powder
1/2 a ts of salt
a pinch of baking powder
mix together
Bowl 2
1 cup 2 tbs of milk
4 tbs of melted butter
1 egg
mix together
Now add the contents of bowl 2 to bowl 1 and mix everything together.

The maze runner

Members attended- Aria, Isabella, Surina and Shalome.
This was our first meeting after the summer. It was short but a lot of fun.
Our opinions on the Maze Runner were similar it was “amazing” and “crazy” but we all “absolutely loved it”.
Aria said “It’s like the Hunger games on steroids!”
Isabella said  “I forgot most of it but I think that I thought it was good.”
Surina said “It’s one of the best books ever!”
I said “I was a-MAZE-balls!!”
For the next month we would raid our parents cookbook shelf.

Fabulous Fantasy

Screen Shot 2016-09-01 at 9.43.35 pm       Next we decided to read different books from the genre fantasy. In the following meeting we described our books without revealing the end or giving out any spoilers.
The meeting:
Date- 1st June 2016
Members- Aria, Isabella and Surina

Isabella read Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. The first book of the Infernal Devices and a prequel to the Mortal Instruments. The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them.’ Isabella didn’t want to reveal the end of the book because she did not want to spoil the experience for anyone. She described the book  as “catching” and “a true page tuner”.
Aria read The first my sister is a vampire by Sienna Mercer When Olivia Abbott moves to town, she’s excited to join the cheer-leading team and make new friends. Then she meets Ivy Vega. At first, Ivy, pale and dressed all in black, looks like Olivia’s opposite. Then the girls look beyond the glittery pink blush and thick black eyeliner to discover they’re identical twins!” She said the book was “cool”
Surina read The mortal instruments’s last book The city of Heavenly fire by Cassandra Clare In this dazzling and long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter.” She said that it was the best ending but she wanted to know more things like “Do Jace and Clary get married?” and  “How many children do they have?”
I read Entwined by Heather Dixon.  Just when Azalea should feel that everything is before her beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing it’s taken away by the death of her mother. All of it. Azalea is trapped and forced to go through the mourning process with her eleven sisters. This means they are not allowed to dance or go to parties and they have to wear black for at least one year.  The Keeper understands. He’s trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. So he extends an invitation. Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest, but there is a cost. The Keeper likes to keep things. Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.’ To me the novel was “mysterious”, “hard to explain” and “like a puzzle”.
Then we decided to read the maze runner series and meet after the vacations.

Girl Online

For our first book we decided to read Girl Online.
Girl Online is the debut novel by  the internet celebrity Zoe Sugg,  It was released on 25 November 2014 through Penguin Books.
**Spoiler Alert**  Penny is a high school girl in Brighton. Under the alias GirlOnline, she blogs about school dramas, boys, her mad, whirlwind family and the panic attacks she’s suffered from after a traumatic car accident. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets the gorgeous, guitarist Noah. Suddenly Penny is falling in love and capturing every moment of it on her blog. What she doesn’t know is that Noah is a famous American singer and composer that’s rumored to be dating another singer Lea Brown. Once the paparazzi take photographs and Noah and Penny they start rumors online and once Penny gets back home the photographs are leaked and her identity is revealed and she receives a lot of bad press and followers of her blog start turning on her. She feels guilty and stupid but Noah steps in and in an interview her sates that he and Lea Brown were never in a relationship and he and Penny didn’t do anything. Clearing her name. People start treating her well online and many apologize. The end. **Spoiler Alert Over**

I sent a message to my club as follows. (Spoiler Alert in paragraph 1)
“How does the media disrupt the lives of famous personalities? In Girl Online Penny is emotionally hurt when  her identity is  leaked and pictures of her and Noah are posted online. She gets a lot of bad press and people start to hate her. Many readers of her blog leave hateful comments.
This week we’ll have a meeting in which we will discuss this aspect of the press. Come prepared with facts and notes about how the paparazzi interferes and pesters famous people.”

The meeting:-
Date- 23rd April
Members- Aria and Ella
During the meeting we discussed the bad effects of the media. Ella spoke about Princess Diana, how she died while speeding to avoid the paparazzi and met with an accident. Two others died along with her.
Aria spoke about Kendle Jenner and how she grabbed a paparazzi camera and thew it at them because she was so annoyed and sick of them taking pictures of her. The paparazzi twisted this and spread a rumor that she punched the photographer even though she did not.
We conclude the meeting saying that everything has good and bad points and you should never pester someone so much that it rusts in harming a person on property.
